METALLURGICAL TESTING

KNOW YOUR MATERIAL’S STRUCTURE & WEAKNESSES

Metallurgical Testing is a type of analysis that employs microscopy techniques to obtain crucial insights about the structure and characteristics of metal and alloy samples. These services may be referred to as Metallography Evaluation, Metallographic Examination or Metallurgical Analysis.

As metals undergo various manufacturing processes, including cooling and working, their grains and crystalline structure can undergo changes. Our team of metallurgy experts at CCT's facility in Zhejiang (China) specialize in studying the material's microstructure and/or macrostructure to evaluate the impact of these changes on material properties.

METALLURGICAL TESTING SERVICES AT CCT

CCT’s metallurgical laboratory is staffed by experienced engineers who conduct a wide range of examinations, including microstructure and macrostructure analysis, corrosion testing, and microhardness testing. By analyzing the material's microstructure and macrostructure, our experts can evaluate the impact on material properties, identify alloys, determine structural features, and ensure that materials meet required specifications. We also offer root cause failure analysis services to help identify the underlying causes of performance issues with metal products.

Quality Assurance

CCT's metallurgical testing services are performed in compliance with industry standards such as ASTM and are accredited by Nadcap and ISO/IEC 17025. Our internal processes are designed to ensure accurate and efficient order processing and reliable test results. Customers receive a comprehensive Certified Test Report that presents the complete results of each metallography test.

Added Services

To begin metallurgical analysis, the samples are prepared in CCT's metallurgical laboratory using advanced techniques such as precision cutting, mounting, grinding, polishing, and etching as needed. Our state-of-the-art scanning electron microscope (SEM-EDS) can magnify samples up to 30,000X, enabling microanalysis of even the smallest samples and areas of interest. Additionally, our digital imaging microscopes offer optical magnification capabilities ranging from 5X to 2500X, allowing us to document our findings in images during the metallurgical testing process.
