WHAT IS THE FAILURE ANALYSIS PROCESS?

At CCT, we start each failure analysis investigation by conducting a comprehensive background review of the failed material or part. Our customers are asked to provide as much relevant information as possible, including details about the composition and fabrication of the failed item, circumstances leading to the failure, and specifics of the failure event. To facilitate this process, we offer a Failure Analysis Questionnaire that streamlines the information gathering process.

Once we have a clear understanding of the product and its history, our team conducts a root cause failure analysis using a combination of testing and inspection services. Our metallurgical failure analysis services utilize a wide range of techniques such as mechanical testing, metallurgical evaluation, chemical analysis, nondestructive testing, and dimensional inspection. We use state-of-the-art equipment throughout our facility, including a Scanning Electron Microscope with EDS capabilities, to obtain the necessary structural and behavioral data for a thorough investigation. Our goal is to identify the probable root cause of failure, which may include analyzing material composition, mechanical properties, and identifying flaws or inconsistencies.
